Laser-formed Gripper Fingers
28.04.2008 -
The new gripper fingers and adapter plates made of polyamide have clear advantages – they are lightweight and very wear-resistant. They can be produced with very complex geometry, e.g. with difficult free-form surfaces for form-fitting gripping or with any three-dimensionally shaped internal air feed-throughs in onepiece
workpieces without any holes from the outside!
The polyamide parts are produced by LMD, SCHUNK’s partner in technology, using laser forming. They can usually be delivered in three days, making them ideal for wearing and spare parts! Since the polyamide used is very elastic, laser forming is also well suited for one-piece compensation systems that adapt to the shape of the
workpiece using oscillating suspended gripper jaws. With polyamide gripper fingers, it is also possible to grip sensitive and thin-walled workpieces without damaging them.
