Appealing design and formidable on the inside: An jury with international members has given the ZENTRICO THL plus precision steady rests from toolholding and workholding specialists SCHUNK in Mengen, Germany the iF product design award 2009. The outside world already acknowledges that the latest SCHUNK steady rest generation sets new standards when it comes to lifespan, accuracy, functional safety and performance. In their daily use in turning applications, these self-centering, precision steady rests prevent tools from being damaged, ensure brilliant surfaces and minimize mistakes in geometry when shafts are long.

High clamping force, high accuracy
The complete product line now has integrated roller rinsing and an improved dirt seal as standard features. Using optimized lever kinematics and central lubrication, ZENTRICO THL plus achieves the maximum clamping force per roller and long-lasting, excellent centering and repeat accuracy as well. That has three positive effects: the lifespan and functional safety of the steady rests increase, the work-piece machining quality improves, and tool costs decrease. The innovative line of steady rests sets new standards for equipment and quality, thus accommodating the increasing demand for turning precision.

Compact design
With ZENTRICO THL plus, design and function go hand in hand. An oval piston cylinder makes the steady rest slender and compact. For particularly tight spaces, steady rests with side mounted clamping cylinders are also available. The standard hydraulic connections that are located at the sides as well as the rear are also practical. The steady rests can be used on the line or stationary. Spherical or cylindrical rollers can be used. ZENTRICO THL plus can be delivered with a swing-out lever arm, manual lubrication or stroke monitoring as required.
