SRU Rotary Actuator in the New Size 30
The new SRU 30 improves the range of sizes available to include especially requested sizes with rotary masses of two to eight kilograms. Despite the small external dimensions, it has a torque of 9.5 Nm with its double piston drive and travels to its end position without play thanks to internal stops.
Electrical 2-Finger Parallel Gripper EVG 55
The newly developed, electrically-driven EVG parallel gripper can be varied in its length which means it can be very simply adapted to individual requirements. The basic construction is based on a compact profile that is only 55 mm wide and whose length can be varied. The EVG parallel
grippers are driven by a brushless servo motor that drives roller-guided base jaws via a toothed belt and angular gear.
Gripping Rotary Unit RP
The new miniaturized RP gripper rotary unit in the GEMOTEC system is designed for applications in the production and assembly of smallest components. It is made up of a combination of the RM rotary module with a pneumatic 2-finger parallel gripper based on the MPG.
Precision version 3-Finger Centric Gripper PZN-plus
The new precision versions of the proven and powerful PZN-plus universal grippers set new standards. A special modification has im proved the minimal play and multi-tooth guided base jaws of the already high-precision gripper modules in terms of its clamping center, the gripper height and
replacement accuracy when changing the gripper.
Laser-formed Gripper Fingers and Adapter Plates made of Polyamide
The new gripper fingers and adapter plates made of polyamide have clear advantages – they are lightweight and very wear-resistant. They can be produced with very complex geometry, e.g. with difficult free-form surfaces for form-fitting gripping or with any three-dimensionally shaped internal air feed-throughs in onepiece workpieces without any holes from the outside!
The sophisticated GAS modular system combines innovative automation technology with high precision. Complete handling and assembly systems can be realized with the modules for linear and rotative NC-controlled assembly axes and rotary units, the latest state-of-the-art control and

Teach-in Device for SWS-I 11
SCHUNK has developed an easy teach-in device for the SWS-I 11 that is inserted in the quick-change head instead of the quick-change adapter. The device is longer than the actual adapter and therefore protrudes from the head to a certain extent. This makes it possible to view the position during teach-in and precise X/Y positioning can be achieved by means of the easily visible position marks. After the teach-in, the device then only needs to be adjusted in the Z-direction in order to achieve the precise target position.

3-Finger Universal Gripper JGZ 40 / 50

Third German Machine Construction Summit in Berlin
Heinz-Dieter Schunk, managing partner of SCHUNK clamping and gripping technology specialists, based in Lauffen am Neckar, was awarded the German Machine Tool Industry Award on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. During the Third German Machine Construction Summit in Berlin, the independent jury of experts from economics and science recognized the Swabian businessman's life achievements. Under his management, a small garage business has been transformed into an innovation hotbed for clamping technology and automation with 1,800 employees. SCHUNK's precision products are used in numerous sectors to increase quality and efficiency.
Rotary Feed-through DDF-V
Specially for the integrated SWS-I-11 quick-change system, SCHUNK presents the DDF-V rotary feed-through that makes it possible to do without the interference factor “external cable” in the future. Because the SWS-I-11 already contains six 3/2-way screw-in valves, only a single conduit is needed for the supply of compressed air since the gripper and other tools are controlled via the integrated valves. Therefore, the DDF-V has only one air feed-through, but 14 electrical contacts for controlling the valves.
Miniature Rotary Modules SRU 8-14
The miniature rotary modules SRU 8-14 are now equipped with very small, powerful hydraulic shock absorbers. This means the maximum permissible moments of inertia for turning are drastically increased, and at the same time the exhaust air throttling can also often be withdrawn since the hydraulic dampers act as significantly better brakes. Greatly reduced rotary cycles are possible for high payloads as a result.

New adapter plates APL / ASG
The miniaturization module of the GEMOTEC system, which can be combined as required due to the large number of adapter plates, has been expanded by new miniaturization components. So a total of 23 new adapter plates of the APL and ASG series were incorporated into the modular system.
Linear Axis with Direct Drive MLD 100 / 200 FU
The excellent cost-performance ratio makes the new servo-electric linear axes with MLD-FU direct drive especially suitable for economic applications. The modules are extremely compact in design and the moving masses are greatly reduced due to the integrated linear motor in guide rails. The “FU axis” enlarges the GAS system module by axis modules in an especially flat version with stroke
lengths of up to 4 m.
Compensation Unit AGE-E
For the first time, SCHUNK presents a compensation unit in the form of the AGE-E whose base plates are connected with one another via elastomer elements. The AGE-E can therefore compensate in the X, Y and Z direction and also correct angular errors, resulting in a rotary compensation. An optional pneumatic locking device is available with which the compensation unit can be rigidly connected so that vibration of the tool or gripper can be prevented while the robot arm is moving.

Anti-collision and Overload Protection Device OPR with sealing class IP 65
Anti-collision and overload protection devices of the OPR series effectively protect both robots and handling devices against damage from collisions or overloads. The OPR series has been expanded by a sealed version with a robust rubber sleeve that reliably keeps out dust and splashing water. This series brings the device to protection class IP 65 and is also suitable for applications under difficult conditions.
Precision version 2-Finger Parallel Gripper PGN-plus
The new precision versions of the proven and powerful PGN-plus series set new standards. A special modification has improved the minimal play and multi-tooth guided base jaws of the already high-precision gripper modules in terms of its clamping center, the gripper height and accurate
positioning when changing the gripper.
Compensation Unit AGE-F
The new AGE-F compensation unit does not need pneumatic components for adjusting the elasticity and uses springs instead to enable a defined yield. Three different spring rates are available for each size that are prestressed by adjusting screws. Unlike pneumatic compensation units, the AGE-F can be flexibly adapted to the respective application via spring selection and adjustment.
2-Finger Universal Gripper JGP 40 / 50
The successful Compact Class has been further developed and the JGP 2-finger parallel gripper expanded by the sizes 40 and 50. The drive, with powerful oval piston and guidance in a rigid T-slot, guarantees the user precise and fail-safe handling. This ensures high machine availability and thus high efficiency of production and assembly.
Adapter plate with integrated valves for SWS
SCHUNK has developed new adapter plates for its quick-change systems of the SWS series in which up to 14 valves are integrated depending on the model. The valves are supplied with compressed air via a central connection and actuated via a central electric connection. The adapter plates are available in the sizes 20, 21, 40, 41, 60 and 71 that match the size of the corresponding SWS change system.
Combibox completely revised
The COMBIBOX software from SCHUNK can be used for the fast and easy determination of which modules, adapter plates and centering elements of the GEMOTEC system can be combined with each other in order to design complete handling systems without mechanical machining.
MM Award for Industrial Three-Finger Gripping Hand:
Sensitive Grip for Diverse Tasks in Industrial and Service Robotics
The SCHUNK three-finger gripping hand Dextrous Hand SDH-2 was distinguished with the innovation award MM Award last week at Automatica in Munich as the most innovative product in the category of gripping technology. Products were rated in terms of technological innovation, economy and design. The modular gripping hand, which is driven by an electric motor, has seven independent degrees of freedom. It can grip and position widely differing objects with no change-over time.
Industry Award 2008 for Gripper with Spindle Interface
An attractive and efficient automation solution for the production of small batches and single parts on machining centers has been developed by SCHUNK GmbH & Co. KG in Lauffen upon Neckar, Germany. The gripper, which is connected to the machine spindle in the same way as a tool via the standard interface, allows fully automatic change of the workpieces by means of axial movements. This eliminates the need for complicated and expensive automation solutions and also reduces set-up times.

Machine automation with SCHUNK modules for low costs and highly efficient production processes
A significant potential for increasing efficiency in modern production processes is the automated loading and unloading of the machines. Many users, however, do not want to accept the risk of high investments in the required equipment and software. A possible alternative is the combination of standardized modules from the Lauffen-based toolholding and workholding specialist SCHUNK.
New Servo Controller
In the future, the new controller will take on the actuation of all servo-electric SCHUNK modules, including the electric grippers from the series EGN, EZN, PEH, PG and EVG as well as the rotary modules PR, PW, PSM, PDU and SRU-MD.
SLH Assembly Profile with the Basis Diameter 35 mm
The SLH assembly elements for the GEMOTEC modular system were supplemented with a new size and are now also available with a basis diameter of 35 mm.
EVG Electrically Variable Gripper
The newly developed EVG electrically driven parallel gripper has a variable length and can thus be adjusted to meet individual requirements with a lot of freedom. The basic design of the EVG is based on a very compact profile of only 55 mm in width, and the length is easy to vary.
OPR Anti-Collision Device and Overload Protection
The anti-collision device and overload protection in the OPR series protect robots and handling units against damage resulting from collisions or overload conditions. We added size 61 to the lower range of the OPR series, thus providing options to meet the growing demand for smaller solutions.
MMS-P: Programmable Slot-fitted Switch with two Switching Points
The MMS-P is a brand new proximity switch with two switching points. The same sensor now detects both the “open” and the “closed” position. That means fewer sensors, fewer cables, fewer adjustments – and lower costs!
Do you know this feeling: an emergency stop causes a crash because the vertical axes drop along with the workpiece, damaging products or the handling systems in the process? With the modular ASP rod-locks, this is no longer possible since they hit the brakes when the air pressure drops below 3 bar. Linear modules are
then reliably stopped and no longer make any more undesired motions. That means a high level of safety for workpieces, the system and users!
PFH 250 and PFH 300:

Our family of successful long-stroke grippers, the PFH series, now has two big brothers with a stroke of 250 mm and 300 mm per jaw.
UZB Universal Intermediate Jaw
The top jaws can be changed rapidly with the UZB intermediate jaw. you can re-equip a gripper for a different gripping task in seconds without any tools. Since the finger stroke can also be adjusted without any tools, you can quickly re-equip the unit for other workpiece widths.
SRU in Sizes 8 – 14
The new small SRU sizes feature strong, double actuating piston drive. Elastomer dampers or hydraulic shock absorbers may be used for deceleration. In particular, the more effective version with shock absorbers provides the best performance in the smallest spaces and represents a remarkable feat of engineering for rotary actuators of this size.
RM 08 / 10 Miniature Rotary Modules
The new RM 08 and RM 10 rotary modules represent the lower end of the product range for rotary modules in the system GEMOTEC, thus providing new options for miniaturization in production and assembly.
