Engelberger Robotics Award
for Heinz-Dieter Schunk
Within the framework of the 41st. Annuel International Symposium of Robotics, Heinz-Dieter Schunk will be honored with the Engelberger Robotics Award. The prize is considered worldwide to be the most prominent award in the field of robotics. It is been awarded since 1977 by the Robotic Industries Association, (RIA) the association of robotic industry in North Amercia. There are about 250 RIA members consisting of robot manufacturers, suppliers, system integrators, consumers, research groups, and consulting companies.

SCHUNK Laser Technology stands on its own feet
Because of enormous response at the Euromold 2009 show,
SCHUNK Lasertechnik GmbH was founded April 1, 2010. This
company is responsible for all activities in the field of laser welding.
In December, the new company showcased another innovation:
the PSM 400 BladeWelder, a laser welding machining for welding high temperature nickel- and cobalt based alloys, as they are used for turbine blades and high-alloy tool steels.

Miniature Parallel Gripper with the most compact performance on the market
At the 2010 Automtica show world-renown trade magazine MM MaschinenMarkt, awarded the new MPG-plus power gripper with the MM-Award. The miniature gripper with oval piston drive and roller bearings has found success in this new age of small component handling. Compared with the previous MPG, which defined the benchmark for small component handling for that time, the MPG-plus boosts the gripping force another 25%, paved the way for continuously smaller and more efficient systems.

The most powerful hydraulic expansion toolholder of all time
With the TENDO E compact, SCHUNK is starting a new age for
tool clamping. For the first time ever, a hydraulic expansion toolholder
can safely transfer torques of up to 900 Nm (at a Ø 20 mm under dry clamping conditions, and therefore is perfectly suited for volume machining. Compared with conventional hydraulic expansion toolholders, SCHUNK has increased the performance of the TENDO-E
by 60%.

Quick-Change Pallet Systems of the next Generation
With the VERO-S SCHUNK is setting standards in highly efficient tool clamping. The quick-change pallet system of the next generation is compatible to the current systems, and due to the patented fast and clamping stroke it allows pull-down forces of up to 40.000 N. All the functional components such base body, clamping pin, and clamping slide are made of hardened stainless steel. Moreover, the module is maintenance-free and therefore completely sealed against chips, dust and coolant. The repeat accuracy amounts to 0.005 mm.
